Final Presentation for Monday 12th June:

Your final presentation can be done individually or else with a partner.

You will be presenting a simple indoor or outdoor game to your classmates.  Ideally, we should have the materials to play the game.

Unit 10 

Vocabulary: subway, fire engine, carpool, ambulance, escalator, train, taxi, elevator, helicopter, traffic jam, mask, button, pedal, blades

Grammar

A little / A few

E.g. Hector uses a little energy. (uncountable nouns)

There were only a few cars on the road.  (countable nouns)

Unit 11 

Vocabulary:  cello, timpani, trombone, bassoon, orchestra, conductor, baton, astronaut, circus trainer, scientist, mystery, gym, deafening, beekeeper

Grammar:  Comparative and superlative adjectives

E.g. This elephant is louder than that one.  That elephant is the loudest of the three.

Unit 12 

Vocabulary:  zummera, flute, djembe, tuba, panpipes, violin, didgeridoo, snare drum, erhu, clarinet, traditional, vibrate, material, pitch

Grammar:  Adjectives with As

E.g. The sound of the didgeridoo is as low as the tuba.

The didgeridoo is not as curved as the tuba. 

Unit 13 

Vocabulary:  lever, ramp, wedge, screw, wheel and axle, lightbulb, doorknob, slide, axe, seesaw, hammer, board, wheelchair, jar, lid

Grammar:  Too and Either

E.g. A hammer is a lever.  A bottle opener is a lever too.

I don’t like cabbage.  I don’t like cabbage either.

The CM2 Advanced English as a Second Language class consists of 5 hours of English a week following the Oxford Discover program.   Children will be given a short vocabulary recognition and/or grammar test once a week.

There will also be an opportunity for children to prepare for a Cambridge English Young Learners Test (Flyers or Movers).
